Dear INCOE, Recently we were faced with a situation involving a competitor’s hot runner system failing beyond repair, requiring immediate action. The tool was a “take-over” tool that our company acquired about 10 months prior. Our company is a tier 2 supplier to Ford Motor Company. The situation was very frustrating on many levels, and shutting down a Ford assembly line seemed likely. Once we determined the competitor’s hot runner system was un-repairable, Incoe was contacted. RJG products and training provides our customers with better on-time delivery, better part quality and consistency, and allows us to better meet product growth needs. Our first indication of increased quality and cost savings was the significant increase in throughput. We are now able to make more than twice as many parts in the same amount of time—one process part output increased from 16,000 to 40,000 parts per day. Blackhawk Molding has a large number of injection molding machines and molds for producing caps and closures, and we perform frequent color changes.  Purging and cleaning the screws on our machines is critical to our quality control.  When we first tried QuickShots single-dose purge packets from iD Additives, it didn’t take long to see the benefits of using this product.  It helped make color changes much easier and dramatically reduced our downtime when cleaning the screws.  We loved the results, which included reducing our scrap and downtime by 55-60%.

A CAE like Moldex3D is a great tool to have in a plastic injection engineering team to reduce cost and time to optimize gate locations, studying flow patterns, predict flow lines, predict injection pressures, studying packing pressures etc. Our team here at Ambrit Engineering has the privilege to utilize the software to prevent any foreseen issues before designing the tool.
