Join other MAPP members at Plastic Components Inc. of North Carolina for the first plant tour of the new year on February 3, 2022.

As a full-service injection molder and contract manufacturer of precision components and assemblies, PCI of North Carolina has evolved to be a global company with more than 20 percent of finished products exported out of the country. This state-of-the-art facility has 23 molding presses ranging from 35 tons to 1,250-tons, 37,000 square feet of manufacturing space, a QA lab, tool room, and 14,000 square feet of warehouse space.

In this manufacturing climate, customers are looking for a single source for their needs and PCI has stepped up to expand its portfolio of service offerings. The facility has doubled in size over the last two years, including eight new presses in six months, a secondary crane system, a white room finishing plant, and more.

With this new growth, they have focused intensively on technology to add value for their customers. With the formation of a NA Automation Engineering Team, the site is deploying mobile 6 axis robots and other forms of automation.

As with most injection molding platforms, this location is ever-evolving, ramping up to meet customer demand in an environment with supply chain challenges and labor shortages. The tour will focus on the following key themes:
