The plastics processing industry aims for continual improvement yet struggles to attract and retain talent, manage projects, and charge for value-added services. Eventually, customers experience sacrifices to quality and lead times. The leadership team at Natech Plastics believes these struggles represent managerial challenges caused by weaknesses in specific management skills. Most acting managers get little to no true management training.

Any plastics processor can purchase the same presses, the same mold materials, and the same resins. Natech believes it can best pursue its mission to “Advance American Manufacturing” by developing people. This starts with developing those core management skills in every individual with management responsibilities.

Like many other companies, Natech had struggled with developing young engineers and manufacturers into competent managers. With its management development program, the organization has been able to realize major benefits of cross training the team. Engineers create marketing content, gather and nurture leads, quote new projects, manage client programs, and develop other engineers. They serve clients as the single point of contact for their programs.
